Lying Fallow - Start Here

What were you doing March 12, 2020?

That was the final day of high school for most of Savannah Georgia's high school seniors including those at Savannah Arts Academy. Of course they didn’t know it yet.

In the summer of 2024, when the high school class of 2020 should be well into adulthood and some graduating college, I sought out several dozen of them to find out how they handled the loss of their launch year, loneliness, disappointment and built lives. Most are from Savannah, Georgia, but others are from around the country.

You’ll hear them mention my sons, Grayson, a Savannah Arts Academy Class of 2020 graduate and Nolan, a Savannah Arts Academy Class of 2022 graduate. Grayson graduated from college in May 2024 and Nolan is on track to graduate from the University of Georgia in May, 2026. You get the idea, they all know one another one way another.

These are there stories of how they created lives after a year of nothingness.

Of note: Jalin Alexander composed the music for this podcast. I am grateful that he believed in this project and lent his creativity and musical genius.
